Han Qin first exhibited with the gallery in 2016 together with the works of Naoki Fuku and Benjamin Li. I have always been moved by her intimate drawings, aquarelles and collages. The soft touch of her tools take us into a world of dreams, revelations, and anxiety. The viewer is left uncomfortable by the intimacy of her work. It's extremely personal, and can feel invasive. Her work reflects on femininity, on the female body, on giving birth and the burden of family. I think for many they can be a reflection of a harsh reality behind a shiny facade.
A graduate of one of China's primary art colleges and following a master programme at the Beaux-arts in Paris, she now divides her time between Shanghai and Paris. Her work has been shown on numerous occasions in Europe and China, and since last week been bundled in a beautiful artist book.
